Dobbs Ferry, NY - Feeding a need to create music that speaks to fans of memorable melodies and intimate lyrics, Lisa Lynne Mathis has completed her first full-length CD, “Hancock Place.” Her soothing yet powerful alto voice, supported by her lyrical piano and world-class band, will appeal to anyone looking for meaning and inspiration in their music.
Mathis gives voice to a woman’s (mother’s, and wife’s) most intimate emotions, writing, as she calls them, “songs for real life.” The 12-track CD is filled with stories of heartache, loss, joy, love, appreciation and desperation -- which Lisa Lynne performs with honesty, sincerity and vigor.
From Anchor, which Lisa Lynne wrote in the wake of Katrina and describes as “a reflection on what is going on in the human spirit after the cameras are gone,” to Comfort Zone which is about “being knocked out by new love,” including the love of a parent for a child, to Let’s Go “To wake and see…my husband smiling and making me laugh…getting my courage up to face the manic day ahead of me…” “Hancock Place” will have listeners reflecting on their own spirit and life.
On “Hancock Place” Lisa Lynne is accompanied by an array of talented musicians including Grammy-nominated Jay Azzolina (Spyro Gyra) on guitar, Tash Neal on Bass, Mark Peterson (Joan Baez, Maxi Priest) on upright and electric bass, and Jonathan Peretz on Drums (Blood Sweat And Tears, Ricky Martin). Additional musicians lending their talents include Steve Jankowski (Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago) and three-time Tony-nominee Micheal McElroy (vocal arranger and tenor, most well known for his work as director of Broadway Inspirational Voices, as well as performances in Broadway shows from Big River to Rent). The CD was produced by Second Act Studio owner Scott Freiman, as well as Douglas Epstein, (Rod Stewart, Leon Redbone).
