Known for her rich, penetrating alto and soul-searching lyrics, singer-songwriter Lisa Lynne Mathis brings a timely perspective to popular music. A student of the human condition, Lisa Lynne sings about the challenges, joys and complexities of life that we all face. Whether navigating the bonds of family or the tests of faith in a troubled world, Lisa Lynne articulates our innermost hopes, fears and questions.

Diverse musical influences can be heard throughout her first full length solo CD, Hancock Place (Garagista, 2007). Her upbeat pop songs and emotional ballads are full of great hooks and rich harmonies, and they are infused with everything from gospel choirs to jazz solos to a Dixieland band. Lisa Lynne’s sound has been compared to some of her own musical inspirations, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos and Marc Cohn.

In June she performed at a special event in Washington, DC called the 5th Annual Wendy's Birthday Bash for Organ Donation, for the Wendy Marx Foundation. The appearance in Washington, DC lead her to performing one of her most notable songs; “The Greatest Embrace” for 7,000 attendees at the closing ceremonies for the US Transplant Games in Pittsburgh, PA (July 15,2008). Additionally, she showcased her music in concert at the Irvington Town Hall Theater (NY) in October, 2007. Performing with her were Grammy-winners guitarist Jay Azzolina (Spyro Gyra), saxophonist Tim Ries (Rolling Stones) and Tony and Grammy-nominated singer and arranger Michael McElroy (Broadway Inspirational Voices). On November 9th, Lisa Lynne opened for Grammy-winner Paula Cole at the Tarrytown Music Hall. Also, Lisa Lynne was a featured guest on composer Scott Freiman’s Carnegie Hall concert in 2005, where she performed her original music with full string orchestra. Other recent collaborators include percussionist Jonathan Peretz, bassist Mark Peterson and Nedra Olds-Neal, the Grammy-winning arranger from Sony who directed Lisa Lynne in the elite Inspirational Choir at renowned Riverside Church in New York and first encouraged her to record her own songs.

Lisa Lynne has been honing her craft by performing in many different musical genres and venues. She sang as a soloist and member of some of the finest music groups in the world, from Chicago’s elite vocal ensembles Bella Voce, The William Ferris Chorale and the Grant Park Symphony Chorus, to major choirs in New York and the Netherlands. Switching gears, Lisa Lynne sang backup for (and coached) rocker Liz Phair on Lillith Fair, Showtime Television, and Late Night with David Letterman. With the world renowned Broadway Inspirational Voices in New York, she has performed for Brian Stokes Mitchell’s Carnegie Hall debut, appeared on NBC’s Today Show and sung in Broadway’s Town Hall and New Amsterdam Theatre, where she appeared before Barack Obama. Lisa can be seen this October at the Metropolitan Room in downtown New York City.

Lisa Lynne can also be heard regularly on Saturday nights as the Music Director of Presence in White Plains, NY. Lisa Lynne Mathis lives in Irvington, NY with her husband and two young daughters.
